Owl Cake for Danica's 1st Birthday

This was the cake from last weekend. I had fun making the owl. The banner was also something new for me. I handcut them and stick some origami papers which said Have A Hoot (might not be able to see it from a distance). The bottom tier was coffee cake with coffee buttercream, and the top tier was chocolate with chocolate buttercream. The whole cake was covered in dark chocolate ganache, then fondant. Loved how the colours turned out!

This cake was featured in Cake Master Magazine UK, for the Best Cake of 2013 section :)
